Understanding HEC Eligibility Criteria for Faculty Ranks

Appointments will be made in accordance with the criteria set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The general requirements for each rank are outlined below to guide potential applicants:

• Lecturer:
  • Qualification: A minimum of a Master’s Degree/M.Phil (18 years of education) in the relevant discipline from a HEC recognized university/institution.
• Assistant Professor:
  • Qualification: A PhD in the relevant field from a HEC recognized university/institution. No prior experience is required post-PhD.
• Associate Professor:
  • Qualification: A PhD in the relevant field, coupled with significant post-PhD teaching and research experience.
  • Publications: Must have a specific number of publications in HEC-recognized journals (typically 10 publications, with at least 4 in the last 5 years).
• Professor:
  • Qualification: A PhD in the relevant field, with extensive and distinguished post-PhD teaching and research experience.
  • Publications: Must have a substantial number of publications in HEC-recognized journals (typically 15 publications, with at least 5 in the last 5 years).

Note: For the discipline of Law, the minimum required qualification is an LLM.
